Lady Marmalade - Patti LaBelle
Part of this: [link] For those of you who don't know, my last name is LaBelle (not from French; rather, it was 'LaBella', Italian, but great-grandad didn't want anyone taking his boys for mafioso when he moved out to this fine country). Because my friends think themselves oh-so-clever, this means that sometimes I open my mailbox to find--surprise!--a song from our gal Patti. Hilarious, guys. Hilarious. I have no issue with this music, of course, as I am a man of ecclectic taste who is completely unafraid to dance around the house, neighborhood, or whathaveyou singing along with girly multilingual songs about New Orleans prostitutes. In case you were wondering how this came to be on my playlist. By the way, has anyone ever figured out what the fuck those words in this song are supposed to mean? Not the French; I know what that means. All that 'gitchy gitchy ya ya' crap. Seriously, what the fuck. Anyway, I've been thinking I needed more practice on ladies and their legs, right? Great excuse to draw something like this--though it really came out more about stylization than actual "practice". I wanted the focus of the image to be anywhere but her face, so just to be safe I've covered it. Garters, guh. I love them. They're like my kryptonite. Also, it wouldn't kill me to use my orange pencil more. I'm still less than halfway through the one that came with my first set of prismas back in highschool. Wow. There was originally going to be some white in her outfit, but I decided that would make her look like 'Lady Creamsicle', which was not quite what I was going for. As it is, she came out looking more autumnal than strictly intended. Oh well. Side effect of the palette I guess. |

I had a linguistics doctorate for my Comp II prof, and he wrote a musical stage version of Moulin Rouge for the class just so he could teach it. And what luck, it's the portion of the class he's on right now. Here, if you're interested. lulz
Anyway, I think "giuche giuche" means "getcha," so the line roughly translates to "getcha sex here"? That was always *my* assumption...

It's far too easy to pull the wool over the eyes of sheep who yield in the stead of mediocrity. They'll never realize they've seen it before.

I don't wanna stand here and say I'm sorry
I just wanna drink beer and play Atari
For some reason, I am really liking the way her hand turned out; just the way it's curved, and holding onto the wineglass. Has a chic quality to it.

The picture is awesome, very nicely shaded.
